This month, we’re excited to introduce Mel Ali, our Office and Operations Manager, who plays a key role in keeping AREF running smoothly.
Mel Ali, Office and Operations Manager
What is your current role at AREF?
As the Office and Operations Manager, I ensure the smooth daily running of operations, manage logistics and the database, coordinate meetings and events, support committees and projects, and assist the finance team.
What is your background?
I have a background in hospitality and front-of-house roles. Before joining the AREF team, I worked at the Investment Association, supporting front-of-house and administrative functions. AREF was one of the teams I supported, and I eventually joined permanently.
Tell us something about yourself that we don’t know.
I was born and raised in Turkey, so I spent my early school years there. I still speak the language fluently and am working on teaching it to my kids!
Fun fact: I went to the same secondary school as Amy Winehouse!
What do you enjoy most about working for AREF?
Working in a small team gives me the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the business, making my role varied—which I love! I learn something new every day from an incredibly knowledgeable and supportive team!
