It was with great shock and sadness that we learned last week of the passing of our former CEO, John Cartwright.
First and foremost, John was such a great person to know and to work with. He was a leading light in the real estate funds industry, making a substantial contribution over a great many years.
In the decade to December 2019, John successfully led AREF through a transformational period, setting it up to become the award-winning industry association it is today. Everyone enjoyed working with John. His good humour and generous spirit made that easy.
We will miss our dear colleague and friend very much and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
A Tribute to John
As a tribute to John and all he did for AREF, we have renamed one of our awards. The individual contribution award will now be known as 'The John Cartwright Award for Outstanding Individual Contribution'. John introduced the Annual Awards in 2011 to recognise members for their achievements. You can read more on our awards here.
