This event revisits the FutureGen Network’s ‘back to basics’ series with a training session on the basics of fund formation. This year's series is kindly sponsored by Carey Olsen.

This session will discuss launching & deployment of a Fund, looking at the business development side of raising capital and negotiations with investors, the legal side ensuring the fund covers all it's corporate governance responsibilities, and deployment, looking at finding the assets and diversifications, stabilisation and wind-down.

Sukhvinder Chana

Senior Associate, Carey Olsen

Sukhvinder advises on a broad range of finance and corporate matters in Guernsey with a focus on real estate finance, acquisition finance and structured finance. On the corporate side, Sukhvinder advises on acquisitions and disposals, corporate restructurings, amalgamations and migrations as well as advising on the regulatory laws underpinning these transactions. 

Sukhvinder also advises on local law financings acting as lead Guernsey counsel and regularly advises foreign banks on the Guernsey regulatory regime applicable to the promotion of goods and services in Guernsey.

Sarah Cockburn

Head of Real Estate Solutions (UK), Schroders Real Estate

Sarah Cockburn is Head of Real Estate Solutions (UK) at Schroders Real Estate, she joined Schroders in 2019. 

Prior to that she spent 11 years at Kames Capital where she was Head of Unit Linked Property Funds, she also worked on the logistics fund at Akeler (formerly Macquarie Goodman/Arlington) and worked as a fund manager for Aviva investors.

Sarah studied Real Estate Management at Oxford Brookes University and is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Robin Hubbard

Head of Real Estate Capital Formation, Schroders Capital

Robin manages a global team of real estate specialists responsible for capital raising, new product development, client management, product management and investor relations in relation to all the funds, co-investments and separate accounts of Schroders Capital's worldwide real estate business. He has over 30 years’ experience in advising, arranging or raising capital for funds and companies in both the public & private, equity & debt markets from different types of investors & lenders across the globe. Prior to spending the last 10 years at investment management firms he worked in an capital advisory capacity at investment banks, a placement agent and CBRE.
