Welcome to this newsletter devoted to all things ESG and Impact Investing. 
 

Website Upgrade

We have upgraded our webpage (click here) to provide easier access to a wealth of relevant information for our members. You will find a comprehensive list of resources, including our recently launched Glossary of Key ESG and Green Terms - a member request! - and the ESG & Impacting Investing Guidelines. Other recent additions include guidance on the SDR labelling regime and an exploration of how real estate may defend against asset stranding. We also highlight a number of external resources that we believe provide excellent sustainability support to fund and asset managers.
 

Consultations

The webpage highlights current consultations where committee members are active. We have recently responded to consultations on UK Green Taxonomy and the UK Stewardship Code. We really appreciate membership involvement here!

Recent Events

We have hosted a number of high quality member events recently, including the hugely popular ‘Nature in Real Estate’ and ‘Facing the practical reality of decarbonising buildings’, a joint event and workshop with BPP. In conjunction with the Investor Committee and CBRE, we have recorded a series of webcasts to improve investors' understanding of the GRESB survey and how best to utilise the results.
 

Upcoming initiatives

There is plenty to look forward to this year. We will soon launch a series of short myth-busting webcasts on topical sustainability issues. There will also be a second decarbonisation event, exploring potential solutions to the issues the real estate industry faces. And we are already working on an impact investing paper and a further project considering how Just Transition can influence the real estate sector.

We look forward to sharing these initiatives with the AREF membership!
